After-School Programs
After School Adventures
Year-round enrichment for grades Kâ8, using fantasy monsters and real-life creatures alike.
Dungeons & Dragons
A creative writing, acting, and social-emotional learning lab disguised as a fantasy roleplaying game. Kids from 2nd to 8th grade participate in weekly 2-hour gameplay sessions of a responsive, adaptive adventure run by a seasoned and certified dungeon master. These campaigns use modern D&D rulesets from physical sourcebooks and guide kids through creating original characters with backstories that become part of a larger fantasy world. Campaigns have historically run for three years or more, with the same adventurers signing up session after session. In many cases, kids who struggle socially have found a group of friends united by common interests and shared memories in the Ironthew Industries mythos.
Creature Club
This 1-hour living laboratory experience teaches young animal enthusiasts from kindergarten to 3rd grade about aquatic biomes and ethical husbandry. In addition to caring for current class pets, students at Lowell School recently completed a planted invertebrate aquarium with multiple species of snail and an actively breeding colony of Neocaridina shrimp. The club designed a bioactive aquascape using repurposed materials, mastered the nitrogen cycle, and established a low-maintenance, sustainable fixture for the school that fosters curiosity in current students and prospective families alike. Creature Club students also go on outdoor adventures and learn about their local ecosystems, fostering a respect for all animals, no matter how small.
