Summer Camp

Legends of Lowell

The ultimate three-week Dungeons & Dragons experience.

Tim DiFazio welcoming campers as Dungeon Master

What it is

Legends of Lowell, our most ambitious project, is an all-day summer camp that provides a top tier gameplay experience each morning and immersive, hands-on educational content each afternoon. Each morning, we lead kids into a curated classroom space with maker tools, art supplies, and a deep library of board games and RPG sourcebooks. With trusted, qualified adults guiding them, campers start with a full-group morning gathering followed by a two-hour D&D session with groups of no more than six total players. Kids get to choose an adventure tailored to their tastes and sensitivities, whether they're a new player looking to stretch their imagination or a seasoned veteran looking for advanced strategic gameplay. Armed with paper character sheets and hardcover sourcebooks, they learn the most advanced, up-to-date ruleset and engage with nuanced, adaptive storytelling. After that, things really get kicking when campers split off into their chosen pathways for afternoon workshops.

The Two Pathways

From special interest to real-world skillset

Certified Dungeon Master Path

Aspiring dungeon masters learn the tricks of the trade from an experienced professional. They practice campaign planning, creative narration, and group management with daily opportunities to test out their ideas in real gameplay situations. Once they learn the basics, we guide them through their own game design projects, including playable homebrew monsters, original fantasy settings, session-ready dungeons, and fully original RPG rulesets. By the end of the camp, they'll be ready to run their own weekly groups and spread the love of tabletop gaming to a whole crew of friends.

Certified Artisan Path

Young artists and makers learn about the creative elements of tabletop gaming from a talented working artist. Major skills include miniature painting, DIY terrain crafting, and 3D printing custom props and set pieces. Our artisans then apply this knowledge to their own self-guided projects for our end-of-camp showcase. These campers not only bring their wildest ideas to life, but get to see their work be used and enjoyed by others in the game they love. We teach kids that their vision has value, and that the most rewarding way to engage with art is by creating, not consuming.

Every camper goes home with…

A painted miniature, a dice set, and a branded hat and badge, plus an Ironthew Industries certificate and eternal bragging rights.
